We have compiled terms and their definitions from different digital technologies. You will find that some terms are linked with others which will be highlighted in the text or end with a “See” link. Open source framework for storing data and running applications on clusters of commodity hardware. Key component of many Big Data strategies by enabling massive storage for any kind of data, enormous processing power and the ability to handle virtually limitless concurrent tasks. Not AI that uses iterative and interactive learning tools but, rather, better for simpler information requests and problems that can be divided into independent units and run concurrently. Also used in conjunction with processing data for IOT (Internet of Things) enabled devices.


A gathering where programmers collaboratively code in an extreme manner over a short period of time. Hackathons are at least a few days — or over a weekend — and generally no longer than a week. While working on a particular project, the idea is for each developer to have the ability and freedom to work on whatever he/she wants.


The # symbol, called a hashtag, is used to mark keywords or topics when posting on social media. It was created organically by Twitter users as a way to categorize messages, but all social medias now use hashtags to group subjects. Anyone searching the hashtagged subject will be able to see your post if you use a hashtag.


How many people have visited your web page or blog. Monitoring the quantity of hits you receive could indicate how well your material is resonating with viewers or customers.
